Joopita is a project label created by Jos Kirps, covering a number of projects released since 1998. Currently active projects include the ONO Perl Framework, the Morzino Education Project, and the Jamplifier Music Project.

ONO – With ONO, we now offer a unified Perl framework that includes all the software modules and solutions we have ever developed.

The Morzino Project

2008 — today

Morzino/Oli.lu was a project originally initiated by Jos Kirps in 2008, and operated by Joopita Reseach ASBL from 2011-2022 and by The Joopita Project from 2022-2026.

In 2022, the project was restructured, focusing on the creation of content generators as well as document processing tools.

The Joopita Project ASBL is a non-profit organisation from Luxembourg, Europe, which is overseeing our Free and Open Source Projects, and which is also operating free services related to Joopita software and projects.

The Joopita Project ASBL is the successor of Joopita Research ASBL, which was operational from 2011 - 2022.

Oli.lu

2008 — 2022

Oli.lu was a project originally initiated and created by Jos Kirps in 2008, and operated by Joopita Reseach ASBL from 2011-2022. The platform offered e-Learning Apps, a Virtual Classroom environment, a School Website Manager, a Library Manager, a Picture Dictionary and many other tools and features. It quickly became on of the most most popular education plazforms in Luxembourg in the early 2010s.

Since 2016, the Education Ministry in Luxembourg has been operating a licensed version of the platform.

The platform went offline in 2022, the Library Manager was retired at the same time. Active development of the Virtual Classroom and School Website Manager ended in mid 2026. The e-Learning Apps and the Picture Dictionary continue being developed and supported as part of the Morzino Education Project.

Galaxiki

2007 — 2021

Galaxiki was a user-editable, wiki-based online galaxy for independent authors of science fiction that won a number of awards, mostly in the United States.

It was 'project of the week' in Linux Journal, it was one of the SeoMoz Web 2.0 Award winners, and it was 'website of the day' on Yahoo, About.com, and PocketLint for example.

Galaxiki has been retired in 2022.

CorneliOS / CIOS

2006 — 2022

CorneliOS was a web operating system designed as a direct successor to OLEFA, providing both UI and terminal access.

CIOS was a framework that enabled easy creation of community platforms and was initially developed for the Galaxiki website.

Most of the CorneliOS and CIOS code is now integrated into the ONO Perl Framework package.

OLEFA

2001 — 2008

OLEFA began as a Content Management System (CMS) in 2001 and evolved over the following years into an educational web solution, transforming the education landscape in Luxembourg and beyond.

Since 2008, we have ceased active development of OLEFA. With ONO (a recursive acronym for 'ONO’s Not OLEFA'), we are now actively developing its successor.
